The Eye of the Storm

Looking out from our anchorage at the north end of Porcher Island, this is what we could see. The winds had been howling most of the day and then just about the time we were getting settled for the night, they quit. We looked out of the boat and saw this scene. The cruise ship was slowly passing at the same time, it was almost fairy tale like.

Hi there Kathy and Jerry.
Thank you again for the wonderful update of your sailing Journey. I had no idea all the wonderfull nature and other things you would see. I see that cruise ship is the Volendam, Josee and I made a trip on that ship in 2005. It looks so small on the picture, but I know better. Poor Prince Charles sea sick again, poor thing!! He will never set foot near your boat again once your back home. So no luck with your crab traps uh????Do you put anything in it. Like I went once with my friends son near the malahat fishing and he did put pieces of chicken in those traps. He did put 3 traps out and we went on further up to fish came back later on and he had about 10 of them altogether. I do not like fishing as I went with Joe once deep sea fishing in Florida on a big boat. I was the lucky one to be the first to catch a fish. That fish was wild flapping his entire body from left to right. I was not able " did not how" to take that fish of the hook. One of the ship mates came to help me to get the hook out of that poor fish mouth. People alway's told me fish have no feeling. Well I fount out different. When this guy tried to get the hook out of that mouth I heard that fish groan like in pain. I said very stunned" gee it sounds like he is in pain" to which the guy answered "of course he is in pain, how would you like it, if you have a sharp hook in your cheek". That did it for Joe and me. That was our first and last fishing expierence. I did not fish at the time with my friends son neither. I just came along for the boat trip.
In the mean time, enjoy every day with your whole being. and enjoy Ketchikan.
Yeah... and Jerry now I understand why you are not keen on a cruise ship. The way you and kathy are going, you see much more then on a cruise ship. And I think it is a challenge to accomplish. Take care you two, and I am looking forward to your next Post. Ladysmith is still Ladysmith, nothing has changed. Hope you won't get bored when you get back home. Thinking about you two every day, that goes automatically when I pass your house to go up town. and i am on the road each day.
